Enchanting. Whimsical. Magical.
Our Romantic Southern Maine Inn in York Harbor Maine

Breakfast on the Porch

Once home to Chicago lumber baron and Hamilton College trustee Alexander Coburn Soper and his wife Mollie Eliza Pope for its first forty years, this 1880s summer cottage estate became the 5th York Historical Society Decorator Showcase in 1994, open to the public for tours.  It began operating as a three room B&B soon afterwards.  Andy & Su Wetzel purchased the inn in 2005.

The Inn at Tanglewood Hall now offers a quiet oasis in the heart of quaint York Harbor with six exquisitely restored guest rooms. Set amidst lush woodlands, colorful gardens, and whimsical fountains, the inn features rooms that have been custom decorated, individually designed, and furnished with luxurious high-end cotton sheets, Hygrocotton towels, fluffy blankets and pillows, with your ultimate comfort in mind.

Relax in the reflective timeless ambiance of a gone-bye era with today’s amenities. Our guest rooms are large and spacious with completely renovated private baths, hairdryers, and naturally scented glycerine soaps. Each room is air-conditioned, and offer gas or electric fireplaces, some with private porches or sitting rooms, refrigerators, and ceiling fans. In-room Widescreen LCD Cable TVs with DVD Players and free Wi-Fi internet access is available for those who wish to spend time in more modern modes.

Reflection Nook

Enjoy a glass of wine or breakfast on our wrap around veranda facing the gardens and woodlands surrounded by birds chirping and the scent of ocean sea breezes. A large foyer and a hideaway room accent the antique and art-filled downstairs with a grand staircase leading to intimate guest rooms on the mezzanine and second floor. An airy sky blue parlor is adjoined to the cheerful morning room and the sun-drenched dining room, all with fireplaces. If steps are a challenge, the Billiard room is located on the first floor.

Garden Angel

The ocean is just a short walk away. Beaches, fishing villages, and rocky coastlines begin here and extend northward beyond the Nubble Lighthouse. The Cliff Path around the corner offers refreshing ocean views of Maine’s rugged coast and lobster boats and sloops sailing in and out of the harbor. For an ideal relaxing weekend getaway, romantic honeymoon, anniversary or birthday celebration, wedding guest retreat, or a night away from daily humdrum, we welcome you to savor with generations past, the serendipity and splendor of the Inn at Tanglewood Hall.
